For each of the past 19 years, The University of Michigan Men's
Glee Club has hosted Male Vocal Arts Day (MVAD). This event has
been and continues to be a special opportunity for Michigan high
school students to experience choral singing at the college
level. On the day of the event, young men from high schools
across the state of Michigan gather in Ann Arbor and participate
in a day filled with vocal workshops and rehearsals with the
Glee Club under the direction of Professor Paul Rardin. After
learning several pieces of music first seen by the participants
that day, the high school students perform the pieces, along
with the Glee Club, later that afternoon. MVAD is a unique chance for high school
singers to participate in the tradition, camaraderie and musical
excellence that the Michigan Men's Glee Club has embraced for 150
years. We encourage all of the young male singers from high
schools around the state to come and share with us in this day
full of the energy, pride, and enjoyment found in a lifetime of
singing. This year's event will take place on
Saturday, January 9th, 2010. If you have any questions about the
event, please send an email to
