Mt. Clemens Host Families Needed!
The Glee Club is performing in Mt. Clemens on Friday, February 19. If you are able to host Glee Clubbers that evening, please contact our Operations Manager, Daniel Pesick, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Greetings from Your Alumni Staff
For those of you who don't know me, please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Joe Wieciek, '11. I'm a Computer Engineering major and I'm originally from Central New Jersey. At the conclusion of the Fall semester I took over as Alumni Relations Manager from Greg Fear, who is now Alumni Relations Manager Emeritus. With this transition we begin an incredibly exciting semester, including Winter Tour, which will take us to Mount Clemens, MI and Dayton, OH, a joint concert with the Harvard Glee Club in Ann Arbor in March, and, of course, culminating in April with the celebration of 150 years of the Michigan Men's Glee Club.
As part of my role, I want to continue to enhance engagement with you, our alumni. In the past few months, we've embarked down this road by working with the 150th Core Team, reaching out to many different generations of clubbers, and increasing the frequency and quality of our email newsletter. I look forward to speaking with and hearing from many of you, if you feel inclined, to learn how you'd like to be better engaged with the club. If you have any ideas, please feel free to email me at email@example.com.
I'd like to conclude by welcoming the newest member of the Alumni Relations Team. Steven Fisher is a freshman from Maryland. He was selected by the executive committee to be my successor, and is currently the Assistant Alumni Relations Manager. I look forward to working with him during my final three semesters at the university, and I hope he will get as much joy out of the experience as I've had so far.
Thanks for your continued support, and I hope to see you in April at the 150th!
-Joe Wieciek, Alumni Relations Manager
From the Publicity Manager
2009 was a year of unprecedented accomplishments for the Public Relations Team. As we geared up for a much-anticipated 150th Anniversary Celebration, we wanted to make sure that our celebration was recognized throughout the campus, the city of Ann Arbor, and the nation. To that end, we look back at a phenomenal start to our 150th Celebration.
The Fall concert had the highest attendance on record - 3,140 patrons - in large part because of the extraordinary efforts of our PR staff. Matt Griffith, the Major Media Relations Manager, worked to invite and bring in almost 400 high school students from across the state. Aaron Bindman, the Campus Publicity Manager, worked day and night to blanket campus with fliers, banners, and signs to ensure that every student was aware of our concert. Also, the entire PR team contributed to securing online "Adwords" advertisements with Google, by which we reached over 1 million users in the week leading up to our concert.
However, our most exciting news is in regards to our goal of reaching a national audience - last fall, the PR team worked with Carl Smith, our esteemed faculty advisor, and the Big Ten Network to secure a 15 minute segment devoted to the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club's 150th Anniversary. The segment will air on the Big Ten Network's "Out of the Blue" series, with scheduled air-times (all times Eastern) of:
